The animated musical television series Donkey Kong Country, or just Donkey Kong in Japan, is based on the Nintendo and Rare video game of the same name. In collaboration with WIC Entertainment, Nelvana, Medialab Studio L.A. (Season 1), and Hong Guang Animation (Season 2) co-produced it, with Teletoon's involvement. For Season 1, it was co-produced with France 2, Canal+, in collaboration with Valar 4.
La Planète de Donkey Kong (The Planet of Donkey Kong), a hybrid live-action and motion-capture-animated block, debuted the series in France on September 4, 1996, on France 2. Later, it was shown from August 15, 1997, to July 7, 2000, as a full series.
The first television show to be primarily animated using motion capture technology is Donkey Kong Country.[1] A number of the series' components, including the Crystal Coconut, were featured in later Donkey Kong video games, such as Donkey Kong 64, which was released three years after the television series debuted. Taiwanese CGI studio CGCG developed the second season, which was revealed as early as May 1999 and had improved character models, smoother lighting, better key framing.
